Paul Arno Rose

Garden, Michigan

Paul Rose knew he wanted to be a photographer after just one short introductory course in high school  With only an inexpensive camera and a keen eye for artistic composition, he was able to shoot images that would assure his placement into the Detroit Center for Creative Studies.  He graduated from the center in 1976 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography.

During Paul’s early career he studied with noted photographers Ansel Adams, Robert Vigiletti, and Steve Benson.

The life within Paul’s photographic images is a response to his visual commitment and emotional attachment to the scenes before him.  He looks beyond the pretty picture and divides space into a study of shapes and values.  His photographic talent embraces his training in the Ansel Adams zone system.

During the 80’s and 90’s Paul took a sabbatical from photography in order to focus his attention on development of his audio/visual corporation, Blue Water Technologies, Inc.

Today Paul divides his time between the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and New Mexico.  His photography can be seen in galleries in Michigan and the Southwest.  His images have won awards at the Crooked Tree Art Center, the Bonifas Membership Show, and the nationally recognized photography magazine, PDN, and were chosen to adorn the newly remodeled Case Hall at MSU.
