Danita was born & raised in Chicago, IL, though she has lived in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for the past 26 years.
She studied weaving and textile design upon first entering college but eventually received an BS in physical geography ten years later. She also completed a Graduate Teaching Assistantship at Northern Michigan University in Marquette, taking and teaching courses in environmental planning, cartography, weather and climate.
Danita has had several different careers, each lasting about ten years - banking; natural resource planning and conservation; as owner of a herb and perennial nursery; and as a professional quilt artist in Santa Fe, NM.
Danita’s current work is concentrated on landscapes and small abstract pieces with fabric being fused, sometimes painted, then quilted. Her hobbies include gardening, water color painting, and involvement with Hiawatha Interpretive Association.
