Elizabeth Farrell

Acrylics - Rock & Wood Sculpture
Munising, Michigan

Elizabeth Farrell moved to Munising several years ago to fulfill a dream based on memories of vacations spent exploring and camping throughout the Upper Peninsula.  She has settled in and uses the countryside as inspiration for her artwork, often using found objects as her canvas.

Elizabeth studied drawing and painting in college and in workshops, but considers herself to be self taught through years of practice and experimentation.  Her subject matter is varied, from wildlife to architecture.  She uses pencil and acrylics as her favorite media, rendering objects in a very representational manner.

Elizabeth spent years as a studio photographer in Michigan, but focused on outdoor photography after moving to Montana in 1998.  Elizabeth has studied wildlife painting under nationally known artists Rod Lawrence, Gijsbert van Frankenhuyzen, and David Mohrhardt.  During her eleven year membership in the Garden City Fine Arts Association of Michigan, her work earned several awards in juried competitions including Best of Show.

In Montana, Elizabeth was a member of the Montana Institute of Arts, participating in juried art shows, workshops, and seminars.  She also had her work in galleries in Bozeman and Red Lodge, Montana and in Cody, Wyoming.

Elizabeth Farrell has always enjoyed the outdoors and nature.  This has led to a lifelong endeavor of artistic interpretation of what she sees and participates in.
